COCONUT
playing in the fields
I looked up
and saw a lot of coconuts
the man climbed up
with his bare feet
hugging the tree
moving up slowly
reaching for one
got hold of it in his hands
with a twisting motion
he managed to
drop one on the ground
he removed the husk
cracked it open
so we can drink the water
and remove the meat inside
this is the young coconut
when it matures
we grate the meat
and squeeze the milk
to make a meal
with glutinous rice balls
and added jackfruit
it gets to the table
we get satisfied and full
mesmerized by the taste
we become happy
we forget the mess
we created on earth
unaware of how
it reached the table
we forget the coconut
is nurtured to grow
it is a seed that is here
living this one life
it is part of the whole
that we are a part of
eat in awareness
see what goes on
the earth nurturing the coconut
so the body can be nourished
able to express and create
the best possible life
for all on earth
