Commonsense Writing Part 1

Why do we wait for something to come up within our mind before we write?

Instead of answering this with a statement, i will start by looking at how writing is commonly defined in this world and  asking myself a question that will open this subject up as i am assisting someone who experienced this recently. We decided we are going to write about this together. Having said that, writing this is assisting me too as i have normally many things to write about but have difficulty finding out which one i will select out of the many that i wanted to write about.

Let's look at what Wikipedia says about the word 'Writing':

Writing is a medium of communication that represents language through the inscription of signs and symbols. In most languages, writing is a complement to speech or spoken language. Within a language system, writing relies on many of the same structures as speech, such as vocabularygrammar and semantics, with the added dependency of a system of signs or symbols, usually in the form of a formal alphabet. The result of writing is generally called text, and the recipient of text is called a reader.

Writing is about expressing ourselves through words and other symbols. It is about communicating with others, by giving and receiving information that will be beneficial for all. Writing is about seeing what this Life is all about.

So, what is my starting point when i write?

Writing about my mind perception of reality is really an interpretation of reality, so it is not what i advise those who are starting to write. I realized that when i do that, i inflate reality so people cannot really see reality as what it is. I hide parts of reality this way which i find is contrary to what writing is about.

Communicating information to someone from a biased perspective also will not be self-honest. Self-honesty is key to writing. I tend to write about what i see and commununicate what i see with the readers. It is about observing the obvious that people miss to see.

I also write about myself and how i see things, people etc.and when i see that i have given a judgment or have blamed etc. someone in my writing, i correct myself .

I rewrite myself within my writing so it is a very useful tool for self-discovery and self-support .

When i wait for something to come up within my mind before i write, i am directed by my mind rather than me directing myself within my writing.  So, i would look at something that i can write about that will assist me and others to see what is really going on around me, opening up myself to introspection and correction.

I find that the topic that will be supportive for myself and everyone who's going to read my blog will be the best one to write about.
